IRJA SEILOLA, A FINISH ASSOCIATION OF THE DEAF (FAD) REPRESENTATIVE INTERACTED WITH PARENTS OF DEAF CHILDREN GROUP
11 parents of deaf children who form Parents of Deaf Children Group had a meeting with Finnish Association of the Deaf (FAD) visitors at MANAD secretariat on 24th January. The visitors from FAD were Irja Seilola and her sign language interpreter, Anna Uttula. The purpose of the meeting was to share some insights of deaf children’s education, parenting, communication and care. FAD visitors are in Malawi on 7-day mission (22nd to 28th) to get familiar with MANAD and Malawi deaf people, deaf culture and environment. Other activities that they are to do are meeting MANAD staff, board members, visiting schools where deaf children are learning, visiting University of Malawi on sign language research and meeting other stakeholders on early childhood development.
