As we are aware the disaster, we had during the Cyclone Freddy that caused much damage in many parts of the country especially in the southern region including Blantyre, Phalombe, Mulanje and others, MANAD understands the disaster has not spared the Deaf community who are in the above affected mentioned districts.
With Understanding effects of disaster and post Cyclones, Secretariat had to look out and managed to reach out Nchima Trust where they managed to make an appeal, to this result Nchima Trust donated assorted relief items to the MANAD members of Blantyre branch who were affected by the devastating cyclone Freddy that occurred in March 2023. Some of the items that were presented were food, clothes, just to mention a few.
MANAD executive director led the donation ceremony held at Deaf Christ Ministries Church in Ndirande on 17 May 2023 and the items were presented by Madam Rosetta Kazembe from Nchima Trust.
On behalf of the Deaf Community, MANAD appreciates the effort and appeals well-wishers to emulate a similar gesture whenever the Deaf community are in trouble
