MANAD ADVOCACY COMMITTEE MEMBER VOICES OUT THE CHALLENGES THE DEAF COMMUNITY FACE IN TERMS OF MEDIA INTERACTION.
MBC Director of News and Programs Madam Khonje had a meeting with one of the MANAD advocacy committee member Madam Juliana Mwase on 24 January 2023 at MBC headquarters. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the issues that the deaf community face in terms of media interaction. MBC invited Madam Mwase following the complaints that were raised on her Facebook page concerning the issue of cutting off the interpreters during the live coverage by the MBC. MBC promised to include interpreters in all of its programs and improve in its coverage during the live programs. MBC also called for more support from MANAD following inadequacy of Sign Language interpreters in the media field.
