Reading for All Malawi (REFAM EGRA reports 2020, 2022), found that
1. Lack of MSL skills amongst teachers, Deaf children and parents of Deaf children are some of the key challenges affecting the education of Deaf learners in Malawi.
2. Lack/ Inadequate Malawian Sign Language (MSL) skills and accessible materials in a language Deaf children could easily understand.
3. Lack of promotion of Sign Language in early years of the Deaf children’s lives.
In response MANAD has distributed Malawian Sign Language digital books and equipment such as Projectors and IPad to 7 schools of the Deaf at function held on 3 May in Mponela Dowa. Attended by Deputy Director of Special Needs Education Mrs. Lucy Magagula, Head Teachers and Teachers from Deaf schools and MANAD staff.
