Malawi National Association of the Deaf (MANAD), with support from Save the Children, conducted a four-day Basic Sign Language training for Ntcheu District Council officers from 14 to 17 July 2025. This initiative is a supplementing effort that initially started with the support from the Finnish Association of the Deaf (FAD)
The training aimed to equip participants with Basic Sign Language skills and raise awareness of deaf inclusion across government services. Representatives from Ntcheu Police, Prison, Social Welfare, Hospital, Youth, and Court departments participated actively and they expressed their appreciation for the initiative calling for future refresher trainings as resources allow.
At the close of the training, MANAD presented copies of the Malawian Sign Language Dictionary to all participants.
