CAPACITY TRAINING TO DEAF TRAINERS AND BRANCH LEADERS

This  was done in four places in regions as follows two places in southern region at Mpaweni Motel in Liwonde, the second at Malihama Lodge in Phalombe, the third at Half London Lodge in Salima in the central region and the fourth at Dziwazako Lodge in Mzuzu in the Northern region of Malawi. The  followings were the dates for the trainings:
1.         Mpaweni Motel in Liwonde from 21st  to 27th August 2016
2.         Malihama Lodge in Phalombe from 28th August to 2nd September, 2016
3.         Half London Lodge in Salima from 7th to 12th September,2016;
4.         Dziwazako Lodge in Mzuzu from 13th  to 19th  September, 2016 .
The trainings were facilitated by 3 secretariat members  namely, the Executive Director Mr Byson Chimenya, the Finance Officer Ms Edna Makonyola, the Project Assistant Mr Gabriel Luzu, the Programmes Officer Mr Bruno Mwase was busy with his academic program at that time.
Participants to the Training
The training targeted the branches that needed strengthening and were deemed as the weakest as follows.

  • Neno, Thyolo, Mulanje, Phalombe, Chikwawa, Mangochi, Machinga and Balaka in the Southern Region;
  • Dowa, Nkhotakota,Dedza and Mchinji in the Central Region
  • Mzuzu, Chitipa, Karonga,Mzimba and Nkhatabay in the Northern Region.

The training covered various topical issues such as:

    • Proposal writing and reporting skills
    • Financial management
    • Lobbying and advocacy
    • UNCRPD and Disability Act
    • Gender development HIV and AIDS
    • Effective leadership skills
    • Networking and collaboration
    • Resource mobilization
    • Marketing association; Vision Mission and Objectives of MANAD
    • Conflict resolution
    • Sign Language development among deaf members.
    • Decentralization – roles of MPs, District Councils, Chiefs, Ward Councillors, the citizens.
